Afghan refugees face repatriation from Pakistan

Afghan refugees living in Pakistan face an uncertain future as the Pakistani government has refused to extend their stay after the end of the year.

There are one and a half million registered refugees living in Pakistan and many others who are staying without official documents.

Pakistan says it can no longer help the refugees because of lack of support from the international community and believes that their continued presence poses a security risk.

Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder reports from the Jalala refugee camp near Peshawar.

I feel bad for the refugees, I truly do. However, behaviour of afghan govt and most afghan people towards pakistan is repulsive. The more we help them, the more they blame us. It's a shame refugees are stuck in crossfire.

Pakistan should not give them any extension if you guys have any problem then take them to your country and specially India Since they both are very good friends

good. Afghans should go back to their home. We helped them, give them work, hospitals education but loving 35 years as refugees made bad impact on their life. As refugees they couldn't establish properly livelihood can't grow. I hope Afghanistan provide them proper citizen rights and they get settled and start their routine life again.

I also hope they thanks Pakistan for keeping them for more than 35 years. But refugees are meant for their own homes and home country. Keep in touch (Y)

Heartbreaking visuals of a poor village, mud cottages constructed obviously with painstaking labour and kept clean with loving diligence by the refugees trying to make a temporary home that could do until they returned to their beloved homeland!

I don't know each one of them said Afghanistan there is war .. I live in Afghanistan and there is no war it's just a excuse they don't wanna come ... but Afghanistan people are waiting for them to come back in there country .. and if Pakistan help Afghanistan when there was war good but UN community give millions dollars to Pakistan to let afghan people live there so it's like they pay money for Pakistan like u pay home rent and live there .and afghans are there since 35 years so they don't make any trouble for Pakistan people they work and eat there own.. So hopefully our brothers and sisters come back to Afghanistan ... and live there

so sad to see people suffering like this. Our government's money greed and Afghanistan's refusal to recognize Pak-Afghan border had led to their suffering. if we knew that we had to send them back, we shouldn't in first place allowed them to build permanent houses and a dreams that they will live here forever under so-called Islamic Ummah principle.
