The National Institute of Technology Trichy (NITT) is one of the Government of India's 31 National Institutes of Technology. It has ten undergraduate programmes and 28 graduate programmes. Undergraduate programmes award B.Tech degrees, while graduate and postgraduate programmes award M.Tech, M.S. (by Research), and Ph. D degrees, respectively.

NRIs students can also take admissions in NIT Trichy through JEE Main examinations under DASA / CIWG quota. There are 15% seats reserved for the NRIs students under this quota.

Generally, application forms for UG admissions are published in May, while application forms for PG admissions are available in March. The application process for UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes is conducted online, and students are admitted based on their performance in the JEE Main, GATE, CAT, and NIMCET Entrance Exams.
