The description of this video states that the top speed of the train (217mph) is remarkable for a train that runs without a locomotive when, in fact, most high speed trains run without locomotives, as they are multiple unit car sets. Having power only at one end is highly ineffective for high speed trains.

Relating to trains, here in the USA, we had/still used sparingly, RDC units. That's
Rail Diesel Cars. Each unit, has its own diesel engine. They, in no way, travel even close to the speed, they do out of the States . The USA has the technology to do this, but currently, that probably would mean all new designs for the passenger cars here. Trying to retrofit the current passenger rail cars here, in the States, probably would cost so much. Plus, our whole way of thinking about passenger rail traffic, needs to be expanded and reworked. The States needs to have passenger rail service to all cities, with a population who could make having a stop in their town, worth it. That's many cities.
Also, using as much of the current rail that's in use by freight trains, would need to be used by passenger trains. More buildings would need to be built.
New track would need to be built. All that would mean other types of businesses would need to be built, if a town didn't have them. Doing all that, would mean thousands of jobs.
Or, I could be dreaming. Other countries, than the USA, have very sophisticated rail operations. And have had them for decades. Thank you.

Most modern passenger trains use an integrated traction unit in all the cars and do away with the separate power units that they still use on freight trains. It's more expensive to build them that way but safer for the riders on high speed rail as most if not all also employ active suspension for the cars to help keep the wheels on the track. during curves

I thought "performance" can't be "powerful", only big, huge, strong, impressive, commanding, etc, and a train itself can be powerful.
"powerful performance" sounds like an emotional show.

If only Spain's medical system was as well oiled, on time and focused to fight Covid 19 as it is running their high speed rail lines. Who's riding the trains now? How about a video on the powerful performance of front line health care workers giving their lives and fighting against not only the virus but against government ineptitude.

How about you do a video on the Bugatti Chiron, considering it can go 87mph faster with only 1 W16 engine

What up with the super short video. This would be good as an intro to an actually well sourced 30min+ segment : / Much better content on Wendover & Co. bad for such a prestigious brand as Smithsonian (No mention of the challenges with the AVE network or lack of any such trains in the US. )

Ironically these trains are assisting the spread of the virus at a speed of 217mph
