War fears grow as Putin orders troops to eastern Ukraine

A long-feared Russian invasion of Ukraine appears to be imminent, if not already underway, with Russian President Vladimir Putin ordering forces into separatist regions of eastern Ukraine. A vaguely worded decree signed by Putin does not say if troops are on the move, and it casts the order as an effort to “maintain peace.” But it appears to dash the slim remaining hopes of averting a major conflict in Europe that could cause massive casualties, energy shortages on the continent and economic chaos around the globe. The U.N. Security Council is holding a rare nighttime emergency meeting at the request of Ukraine, the U.S. and other countries.

It is a smart move, as this way Russia not only materialized the actual control of the two regions, but also avoid fighting with Ukraine directly, least on the surface. Now it is hard for US to make a good move.

correct me if I'm wrong but I sat and looked at the different Maps when it comes to Ukraine it seems. that Russia is trying to take all the land that has access to the ocean in order to isolate Ukraine from having trading options and if they do so then Ukraine will be dependent on Russia like they always wanted I think that is what the actual strategy is I might be wrong
