Rappelling with a Splitboard

Показать описание
As low elevation snowpack recedes later in spring being able to access snowline can be tricky. Rappelling over shrubs, trees, and cliffs allows someone to move between snowfields and avoid dangerous moats.
The Why:
✅ Add security in exposed terrain
✅ Move between separated terrain
✅ Access couloirs
Why Not:
🛑 Rope is too short for maneuver
🛑 Difficult to pull rope
🛑 Easier to find appropriate terrain and avoid the need for a rope
⚠️ The ability to use an extended rappel opens a world of opportunities and problem solving solutions. At the same time hazards are introduced and magnified when you enter the vertical environment. Be sure to close the system with knots in the end of the rope, backup your rappel with a 3rd hand friction hitch ( auto block), and visually inspect your anchor and material.
