Plus he's got that Lex Luthor look going for him.

I voiced my opinion as a contractor at Amazon about the unsatisfactory working conditions to an employee escorting me to the jobsite. And asked questions about benefits to the job. I was escorted out of the building and never could do contract work again. If we don’t stand up to people like this, they will forever rule us. Amazon buys businesses and set up fulfillment centers in strategic places to lure a demographic they can manipulate.

I like how everyone hates him and yet many people continue to buy stuff on Amazon.

"Well where else am I going to get my $100 dollar unnecessary item for a cheaper price?"

The lesson: if you work hard enough, grind when they sleep, hustle when they rest, crush numbers while they eat, your boss will buy a new sports car next year.

Calling Bezos a "space entrepreneur" is like calling me a Carpenter because I built an Ikea cabinet 😂

Great video! One thing you should’ve mentioned is how Amazon uses DSPs (Delivery Service Partners) to deliver their packages. Basically, DSP employees have to wear Amazon uniforms and drive Amazon vans but don’t get any Amazon benefits. It sucks because they have extremely heavy work loads, are continuously watched with a Netradyne camera, and many drivers struggle to find a restroom, which is why most of them pee in a bottle. Also, Amazon is ruthless with DSPs, especially how they can cut a contract with a DSP and quickly lay off delivery drivers.

People in the Amazon warehouses felt like they were in the real Amazon

Bezos does what he does because he is allowed to. I have no personal issue with a person becoming very wealthy. But I believe he should be paying taxes, which should be an issue of federal policy, not state. I feel the same way with labor standards at these companies. The only bad thing that would come off enforcing taxes and better labor standards would be slightly lower profits (God forbid) for an already giant company. I don't see why we couldn't have successful companies that innovate while also paying their share and treating their fellow man humanly.

The best thing I can about Jeff Bezos and the empire he built is that I wasn't in favor of Unions prior to my time at Amazon, but now I am. Thank you, Jeff. Union Strong

It's not just Amazon that's a horrible place to work, most warehouses and low paid jobs are a nightmare

As sn employee I hate the company. As a customer I love the company. If this isn't a dilemma I don't know what is

He is a former hedge fund manager that values and leads the world in the expansion of shareholder capitalism at the expense of stakeholder capitalism. Systems > People. If the word 'asshole' is an urban dictionary shorthand description of a person that is unwillingly or unwittingly insensitive to the needs of others, the term applies, but he is far from alone. He is just particularly prominent.

Here in Colombia the medium and low working class have been exploited for the last 3 decades if not more... I worked for Amazon for about a year in customer service and my paid was in our local currency... My paid was not even 2 dollars and hours or about 480 monthly... Jeff arrived to Colombia couple of months ago looking to buy land here in Colombia. Can't imagine what's he's planning to do here where our government doesn't give a damn about its citizens or forest...

The work environment you described both in the early days and the warehouses are painfully true. First hand experienced some really shady and dangerous work practices. I was a janitor for a bit before working as a seasonal at a warehouse and one of the first things I was told about "peak" season is to be prepared for employees to use trash cans as toilets because they can't afford the "time off task". Breaks of 15 minutes most of the time are actually 5 based on a "scan to scan" tracking technique for employees and lunches are rough which also have kiosks with overpriced food. I ended up needed to budget hard because it was like 5 dollars for some crackers cheese and meat. I was also told that they were starting to look for young workers more and forcing out older workers through citing them for their effort on the job. People wrote on the bins all the time on how they wished they weren't there and some started questioning their life choices to end up there. Covid was how I left because my janitor friends at the time told me that there was positive cases coming to work and they were told to just clean the area constantly and barely enforced masks.
It was a dark horrific job that haunts me and I only worked at the place for a few months and it only gets worse the more you ask (look up required pick rates for amazon it's insane). It's so demeaning as a person to work there and just be treated as dime a dozen resource.

I worked as an Amazon corp. employee and it was the worst company that I have ever worked for.

Bezos these days has a striking resemblance with Dr.Evil and his transformation from nerdy tech-guy to mega-rich tycoon resembles that of Walter White.
Also many of his actions look like acted-out inferiority-complex to me. Hmmm....

3:22 kinda weird how you never mentioned that a year later, Bezo's parents invested $245, 573 into Amazon. You make Jeff Bezos look like a self made man by omitting that massive investment of daddy and mommy money.
