There are good landlords out there who don’t overcharge to the max and take care of their tenant, but the bad apples still spoil the bunch for a lot of people

People just don't realize what's involved in being a landlord, a good one. Unfortunately, the slumlords do take care of their rentals or renters. You seem like a good one, your renter are very blessed.

I'm sure your renters are so happy you are blasting what they pay.

I love owning my home! I renewed for many years - paid over $250, 000 in rent over 11 years when I moved out I had paid his house off and he sold it for over $550, 000- pure profit- he never even sent me a thank you note. I will never rent again!! I’d rather have all the responsibility of paying for everything and it benefits only me and my kids

It costs a lot of money to keep the rental property in good shape!

Without landlords a lot of people wouldn't have houses.

People complain about landlords.

They also complain when there’s nothing to rent.

I am 73 years old rented all my life. My brother put a down payment on manufactured home and I took over, all insurance all all the taxes and am responsible for repairs and improvements. I would stay a renter. You may charge more but what's left over after all the crap. Nope . So my son is taking over and I'm going to rent from him. I hate it. Thank you landlords. At least the good one. Keep a good report between you and your renters. If you get a good renters, test them with respect. Listen when they talk to you. Don't blame them for everything that happens, renters if you need call the local housing authorities and complain complain complain. This is for the bad landlords. Their by the thousands. Know your state laws for renters. Your rights will be trampled.

The landlords here where I live are seriously overcharging because so many are moving to the area. I wish they’d all leave honestly. I don’t recognize this place anymore😢 for a crap, mold infested, run down, apartment in the hood that 4-5 years ago was $600 they are now charging $1300 and up for those same ones. You can’t find a 1 bedroom under $1000 at all. It’s sad and forcing so many to become homeless.

I am a landlord just like you. I keep the properties in excellent condition and I make nothing. These people making these ridulous comments are IGNORANT!

Yes but that rent is getting you nothing but the space for the rental period. You don't gain equity, which is the whole point of owning and paying mortgage. I do think it is good business to have multiple homes to rent out. At the same time, there is definitely a line where you start being one of the problems behind the housing shortage. It is definitely wrong for corporations to buy out homes to rent for ridiculous rent prices. At what point do individuals start meeting that threshold? I dont know but I think there definitely is a line somewhere. We all want to make money, that is not evil, but how we do it needs to be considered.

My “dad” not bio passed away just over a week ago. I have lived in his home caring for him and 2 of his grandchildren whom he had custody of for the past 5 years. Before his passing we discussed my teen and I staying in the home and it actually being transferred to me as owner. So fast forward to today. In the past week we have found black mold in the ceilings and floors of almost every single room. The roof needs replacing as it is 30 plus years old and leaks in the master bathroom. On top of the $56, 000 mortgage that also would need refinancing in my name. Once decided his estate can have the house and I will be looking for a rental. Owning a home just may not be my cup of tea 😊 well I am a coffee drinker 🤷‍♀️

Some renters simply don't want the responsibility of owning a home.

I think we have a lot of slumlords as a direct result of so many tenants abusing their rentals. I've experienced so many people abusing their rental spaces because they don't own it. It's very sad, I have always treated my rentals like my own because I get to live there, and I respect the fact that it's available for me to rent. I truly don't want all the maintenance expense nor the sweat equity homeownership requires because of my personal health issues. .

THATS reasonable. Thank you, sir. Shame on all the rest you filthy greedy shameless freaking landlords. Count your days of preying upon poor people.

Exactly. We rent but got a new roof, furnace and now a driveway going in. That alone would make up for the small rent increases

Half of one months rent pays for a water heater. It’s not that big of an expense. A couple months rent pays for a furnace. It’s not that much overall. A roof isn’t the responsibility of the renter. You are taking it out on the renters and ripping them off just because you can and that’s honestly sad. I hope people see your social media and people stop renting your properties. Gloating is even worse. Grow up.

I've owned two or three houses other than my own for the last 40 years. What's said here is true. You don't have much profit for a long time. Over the long term the property gains value though, so it's a long term investment. Also once the mortgage is paid off you get some positive cash flow. Nice because I'm retired and live on that.

We rent our home ... Every year we are increased $100 to $150 plus if we need repairs ... We have to pay $100 which is added to our Rent if we need repairs done. As for landscaping ... we have HOA who takes pictures if not kept up & We have to pay someone to come out & do the trimmings etc ... luckily we don't have grass but definitely alot of Palm trees ... 🌴 Your renters got it made!
