Tips For Squaring Up Your Block (Ep. 104)

No matter how precise your cutting is, when you get done with your block you may still have to square it up a little. Here are a couple of tips on how to square up your block. This is Lesson 2b in Nancy M. Roelfsema's, "Learn To Quilt" curriculum.

YES, it did help! I love it. This was short & sweet but oh how to the point. :-) I'd previously understood the need to have a 1/4 of an inch beyond those points when joining blocks of this nature, but the path you took in explaining how to EASILY square up a block like this was wonderful - kind of a "Duh!" moment for me and how come I haven't realized this before? I need advice on how to get a 1/4 inch seam allowance for binding around the edge of a quilt with points

This video was soooo helpful!! I have one question...as I am pretty new to quilting. I am making 20" finished blocks... Carpenters Wheel... so lots of points similar to yours shown above. When I trimmed each side to the 1/4" from each point my block is still a bit off square. Since I cannot trim them square without risking loosing the points... should I add a border around each block and then square it up? I plan to add sashing to join the blocks eventually.
