I just wanted you to know that using your "just whack it in" method of gardening has restored my love of my garden! I was getting way too uptight about doing everything "right" and it wasn't fun anymore! So..whack it in, if you don't like it, move it, and play "what's alive and what's died" often! Oh, and look out for spider webs!!

Try brewing your nettle feed in a water butt lined with an old onion sack and fill the sack with nettles. The rainwater then infuses the brew ready for siphoning into bottles ready to dilute in your water can. 10% mix.
I make comfrey brew - equally as stinky but a fantastic boost feed.

Pull out the sack in winter and let the contents dry out and dispose ready for re-use. Hose out the water butt ready for next Spring.

A lot less messy and a constant supply.

I plant my garlic around the end of Nov (Thanksgiving) and harvest around the beginning of June (Father's Day) every year. I hope yours does as good this fall/winter.

Love your red onions...if you try them.next year then sprinkle some Growmore around them or chicken poo pellets to feed them in the spring to bulk up...protect them too if putting sets in the Autumn ...plot looking very productive!

Gave up on my broad beans, got some off them but all the plants were swamped with black aphids, tried the soapy water and kept doing that but I'd had enough.

I also love, love, love gardening and think it's gross. I never would have thought I'd ever have my hands in cow poo. I always tell wet grass not to touch me.

My sore throat developed into the new strain of Covid. Not seen anything meaningful of my Allotment 😢
