A slumbering giant nests in the western part of the United States. Though it stirs from time to time, it has not awakened from its sleep for nearly 70,000 years. But when it finally does stir, it could roar and rise with unprecedented force.
This giant is the "supervolcano" lying beneath Yellowstone National Park, the natural reserve sprawled across the states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. The volcano itself lies in northwestern Wyoming, where much of Yellowstone is contained.
According to vulcanologists, a possible eruption could blanket entire regions under several meters of ash, while emitted gases could spread worldwide, blocking sunlight and significantly lowering temperatures for several years. Are these just hypothetical scenarios, or will it truly happen someday? And when?

We could diffuse it by building a power plant there using the geothermal energy to power the us and slowly cooling the magma chamber

Currently, Yellowstone is a "broken" volcano, it is not able to build up pressure, as it vents all the pressure so it will not erupt.

Our only chance is to reduce the pressure of the magma rising to the surface. We can try to drill holes so some magma can escape harmlessly but Yellowstone is such a big volcano, we will need to constantly drill many holes so that the entire volcano is covered. Drilling a hole in one spot will only cause the pressure of the magma to a different location.

There is also a Supervolcano in the state of New Mexico. I can't remember the name of Caldera.

It would be great if they could figure out a way to continually release enough pressure to keep it at a safe level so that there's no chance of an eruption, but I know that's not possible.

When apophis comes 2029 it will cause a tidal wave on the East Coast but it will cause a much bigger tidal wave on the west coast which will annihilate the entire West Coast and erupt Yellowstone which will cause a 3-month darkness

It may not erupt any time soon, and I'm not one to scare easily, but I will tell you that one well played hydrogen bomb in the middle of Yellowstone would be the greatest disaster imaginable. Despite what they say, I can tell you that it would trigger earthquakes in the highest Magnitudes across the United States, in any state that has a fault line. Let's just hope that it never happens.
