What do you think of choosing to be cremated upon death?

When my dad died he was cremated. My mom kept his ashes until her death several years later. When she died my dad's urn was placed in with my mom in her casket. This was done privately with only close family members to witness. At the grave site the Pastor said a prayer for both my parents

I had my Mom cremated when she died back in 2017. While I know she was dead when she went through this process, it still bothers me. I will say I am at least glad that I have her ashes with me now. Better that than to have her in the ground somewhere I don't get to go visit very often.

My beloved belated mother and uncle went through the process. I am glad they did I will do the same thing. Ashes to ashes dust to dust in Jesus Name Amen. Don’t need to waist all that money to bury the carcass since the spirit and soul is gone from it. That’s my opinion.

I had my husband cremated in 2020 and it cost less then $2, 000. I went with a place that only does cremation since going through a funeral home cost more. My husband did not want a funeral so he was just cremated and I picked up his ashes and bought an urn to put him in.

the hardest part of cremation was when they gave us a plastic bag containing my moms knee joint replacement and her shoulder joint. I had a hard time holding them, it made everything sadder for some reason

The fact that dying costs around 10K is one the biggest scam that we all accept without thinking. They force you to buy expensive thing 'out of respect', I should be able to bring my tin can or a mason jar. My dad died years ago and to this day I still feel like they stole 8K of my dad's money.

I will definitely jump in the sea tied to a large rock when my time comes, and they will still charge money cause 'he needs to be buried even if there is no body'.

Top tier scammers.

My family has chosen to be cremated so I found this information very helpful. I’m fact we’ve been looking at Columbarium’s for the final resting place. Thank you…

My dad was cremated when he died. I wanted to give him a regular funeral but he didn't have life insurance and I didn't have money for a funeral. I urge everyone to get life insurance because I know what it's like asking someone else to help me pay for final arrangements because a family member didn't have life insurance.

I was a Potter we made pottery for decorative use. The kiln we used was lined with fire brick same fire brick used in a kiln for creamations

Just a piece of advice, if you ever get the ashes of someone you love, don't look at them too close. It's not like on the movies, not everything gets turned to ash. There's little chunks of bone fragment and things like that. It's not a pretty sight

My great uncle was a mortician and from little on we would help with cremations. He used to have us separate the gold from the teeth if the families desired so. The gold would usually get sold and put towards the cost of the funeral. It is a very interesting process. I plan on donating my body to science...would love to end up on a body farm somewhere!

The thought of thinking my yet to be 16 year old friend is about to undergo the same thing is so depressing.

Maybe crematoriums are different, but my husband’s remains were well over 10 lbs not to mention it took a couple days for the cremation process. He was an average sized male, 6ft 180 lbs.

We cremated r Lil chihuahua. She's in a tin box I had her wrap up in her favorite blanket and her pesrl necklace. Yes she had real pearls with an antique broach. She's right next to my Bible. I'm glad I still have her. ✌️❤️🙏❤️🐾🐾

We had our mother cremated back in 2005 and her urn is buried. Inside the urn on the bottom of her ashes was her gold Buddha necklace since she was Buddhist and worn that necklace throughout her life. It was a quick and painless process and done professionally. Every mother's day I go to her grave and place her favorite flowers which are lilies or pink roses on her headstone.

I'm being cremated bc I don't want to take up space after I'm gone..I just feel better about it..I'm getting a new body in heaven..with No CANCER....also, I don't want ppl remembering how I looked in a casket...remember me alive and well...

Today, 09/29/2023 my sister and I just went to the cemetery and prepaid for our mom’s burial. She’s 85 and alive and kicking! But prepay sooner rather than later as the prices never go down, as Death doesn’t stop happening. She is terribly afraid of fire, even in death. You said it’s $8000? Nope. It was $19, 300! And that’s for a basic, no frills burial, embalming, vault, bronze and granite name plate. That’s not including a casket! We found the same titan casket they wanted for $2800 for $1400 w/free shipping! There are no flowers, service, cards, etc. oh and then we have to pay for the death certificates of $12 for the short form and $15 for the long forms. We’ll probably need 2 of each. I forgot to say that her obituary will be on their website.
