In the 1985 movie, a lot of the characters wore colors OPPOSITE their names to display that they were using pseudonyms. Ms. Scarlet wore Emerald Green, Mrs. White wore black, Mr. Green wore a red tie, Professor Plum had a deep green suit, Mrs. Peacock was dressed in browns and Pheasant feathers. The only one not to have an "opposite" color was Colonel Mustard, but even then, he was wearing dark brown, not yellow. I guess they just didn't want a bright blue suite on screen?

The 1985 version of ‘Clue’ was definitely more metaphorical than literal. Although you’re doing great with a literal interpretation

I've never seen the Clue movie, but I loved the game as a kid, and I ALWAYS wanted to play as Miss Scarlet. In the game she wore red, so I'm glad that's the way you went!

The reason she's wearing a green dress in the film is because all of the women are wearing the opposite color of their namesake!
Ms. Scarlett wears green
Mrs. Peacock wears orange
and Mrs. White wears Black
