EDIT 3/25/2023: There are a couple of things that need to be corrected here!

As some of you may have seen from Backseat's newest stream highlight, I was completely wrong about Golden Freddy! Basically, I let my preconceived assumptions of the game mislead me into thinking that the random 1 in 100, 000 check happens when you look at cam 2B. In reality, it tries the check EVERY SINGLE SECOND you're in the night, and if it succeeds, you'll see that the poster has changed the next time you look at it. You can even see the change instantly happen, if you're watching the poster when it succeeds!

This just proves my point when it comes to things like this: Misinformation is SO easily spread, even when you don't mean to. If you're using secondhand information to come to a conclusion, be sure to double-check as much of the information as you can!

There's another Golden Freddy-related correction I need to make, but this one's...a little less justifiable. Whenever I referenced the odds of both Golden Freddy events, I also gave the actual percentage chance of them happening. When recording, I caught that I had put an extra zero in both of them that would need to be corrected. Happens a lot with me, I'm prone to confusing myself with simple math somehow. I typically end up catching and correcting these at some point in the process.

Issue is, when it was time to do the retakes...I tried to fix them by ADDING another zero instead??? Basically, both odds shown in the video are entirely wrong. There were some top comments that pointed out the mistake a long time ago, and I even replied to them to keep them at the top, but I don't see them anymore.

So to correct these: The per-second odds of the Golden Freddy poster appearing are 1 in 100, 000, or A 0.001% CHANCE. The odds of the Golden Freddy jumpscare happening on the game over screen are 1 in 10, 000, or A 0.01% CHANCE. Not whatever stupid numbers I gave in the video. I made this video at a point when stress and exhaustion were pretty high, so there were a lot of embarrassing mistakes like that while the video was being made. I really wish I would've caught all of them for the final version, but all I can do is correct myself now. Sorry for spreading misinformation of my own! I'll continue to try and be as accurate as possible in my videos, correcting errors ASAP!

(Except for the typo in the thumbnail. I think it's hilarious and refuse to fix it. I love how many people don't even notice.)

ORIGINAL COMMENT: Hey everyone! Thanks for waiting so patiently for a new video! This was a bit of a nightmare to make; not because of the content, but simply because of circumstances around the time that were outside of my control. Speaking of which, this was recorded shortly after the usual recording area went under construction, so I had to make do with what I had. It's definitely some of the roughest audio I've produced, (not to mention I'm pretty sure the excess static in the video did something funky with the bitrate) but I tried my best to make it as clear and enjoyable as possible. Hopefully I did okay! This video's also very numbers-intensive, so I tried to have a little more fun with it than usual.

Also, real quick since I feel like somebody is going to bring it up: There is NO evidence that Five Nights at Freddy's has ever had anti-piracy. There's nothing related to it in the game's exe, and a bait torrent (like Game Dev Tycoon) has never been found. My best guess is that it was a rumor that someone just decided to make up that got further spread through Top 10 YouTubers. Take any claims otherwise with a grain of salt. Jumpscaring the player as an anti-piracy measure seems very silly for a horror game, anyway...

19:47 Could you imagine if Freddy was in your room when the power went out, and then he just casually walks past you and out the door like “Excuse me, need to move onto my other attack phase.”

No but imagine how scary it would be leaving the building at 6am and passing all these animatronics that were bent on killing you just minutes ago.

"Let's put the remaining animatronics in a group called Foxy, because that's his name"

underappreciated amusing line

20:24 This would have been the stuff of grade school legends twenty years ago. Imagine that you're nine or ten years old, you're playing FNaF, and after you get a game over one time, you get a second jump-scare with a new off-color animatronic, and the game _closes itself._ No one would believe you. It's like finding Mewthree under the truck in Pokémon.

Can I mention how funny it is that all of the camera feeds are still images no matter how the characters move, then you have Foxy booking it down the hall at mach 3? That is the best anxiety injection for new players I've ever seen.

I find it hilarious that the animatronics movement is based on what are essentially dice rolls.

Like imagine being the security guard, and freaking the fuck out meanwhile the animatronics are on the show stage like "Ok Bonnie, roll for initiative."

Freddy: I'd like to move into the office
Game: Alright, roll a D20

Chica: follows the laws of physics and natural order.

Bonnie: a w o o g a h

Y'know, this explanation makes it more obvious why Scott thought 20/20/20/20 mode was impossible. It really does seem so, looking at it from a technical perspective. But, well, humans find a way.

God this is fascinating. So everyone's actually been doing the cameras wrong the whole time. They should've kept the camera on Freddy rather than Foxy and kept flipping it up to keep both of them stationary. Then again, there's no audio cue to show that Foxy is coming so the game essentially funnels you into eventually using a camera other than 4b to see if Foxy is on the way, giving Freddy the chance to hop into the room. In that way, Markiplier's strategy of left light to check for Bonnie, close right door, check camera for Foxy (forcing Freddy to try his attack and be deflected by the door), then open right door and use the light to check for Chica, rinse and repeat, is exactly the optimal strategy. Other than that, it's hoping your timing is on point.

In phone guy's defense he immediately took back the "playing dead" thing. Waving it off with a "They'd probably just stuff an endoskeleton inside of you."

I see, so the "hole in the wall" thing was just people not noticing freddy has already entered and then freddy successfully hitting the 25% chance after. Damn that's unlucky.

The Fact that the Animatronics basically roll Skillchecks in order to move is still ridiculously funny to me

The "there's a hole in the poster in the office" theory 100% used to be a thing - I distinctly remember it from when this game was super popular :P

i'd like to imagine that every time your shift ends, you just walk down the hallway and all the animatronics are like "awh man cmon dude i can't believe we lost again" and you're like "yeah you can try next time, goodnight guys"

For the “Hole in the wall for Freddy theory”
Freddy only moves when he laughs, it’s an audio hint that you can use to tell where he is without using the cameras. When he is in the east hall corner he waits for you to look at a camera that isn’t on him and he will laugh again. When he laughs it takes a few seconds for the attack to actually happen. Markiplier heard the laugh, THEN dropped the door. After the laugh has started you can’t prevent the attack.

9:00 I heard all sorts of shit along those lines, including "Freddy can literally teleport."
Also, fun fact, since the AI is understood so well, and Clickteam Fusion is block-based, there's like fourteen million Scratch versions that work pretty much 1:1 with the original.
