CIRRUS SR22: FAILURE Over WASHINGTON DC! It's About To Get Messy!!

In a pinch to log some flight hours, I planned an unforgettable trip to see the iconic monuments in Washington, D.C. After completing the Washington DC SFRA course online, I felt confident and ready for the 3.5-hour journey. The aircraft was fueled, systems checked, and everything looked normal!

Cruising along halfway through the flight, everything seemed routine—until a yellow CAS message popped up: ALT 1 Fail. With the warning light glowing, I had to think fast. Was this just a minor glitch, or something more serious? What happened next could change the entire trip...

Watch the video to see how I handled this situation and let me know in the comments: How would you handle this situation? Walk us through your decision-making process for a yellow CAS message like 'ALT 1 Fail.' Would you have made the same decision I did, or approached it differently?

Love the video. Gorgeous SR22. Not sure I personally agree with leaving the caps cover fully on but your the PIC. Keep up the great editing.

So many flight issues that could or might happen. Very good flight great representation and flight hours needed to accomplish your rating. Be safe and thank you. Onward 🌈 to great ways and prosperous days.

I see the fence up from where they tore down the old terminal. Great walk through. 👍

My current 22 is identical to yours but with the factory O2. Still has a 1241 lb useful, which is so nice. Based in SC. Previous 22 did not have factory O2 but used a mountain high system which worked well. Keep the vids coming, great job.

How does maintenance on the road work? Don't they need to log it in one of the aircraft log books? Do you just keep those with you all the time?

Also since the batteries of the GoPros don't last more than 80 to 90 minutes. How did you resync the videos when you turned the cameras back on? Thank you

What kind of camera mount are you using for the center camera facing the front? Is that a suction mount like the other cameras? Thank you

I lost full Alternator which resulted in loss of AC, radio 1, flaps and trim capability (I landed no flaps immediately since they were lost). Be mindful of the differences in case it happens again. CAPS placard should be removed for flight. Good job overall.

Where did you get the electrical checklist? I’d like to have one of those. WDE!

Oxygen systems? If you could get the OEM from Cirrus retrofitted in, that'd be the best solution... but otherwise, I'm a huge fan of the Aerox and Mountain High systems.

When ALT1 failed, I would have diverted to the nearest airport for repair rather than fly 2.5hrs with an unknown electrical fault.

Aren’t you supposed to have that caps cover off your whole time youre in the plane?

Save yourself the trouble of always having to refill oxygen tanks and get an oxygen concentrator. I have the Inogen one G5 and I love it.
