Sorry I missed it David but have just caught it now (Tuesday), having done a final year essay on just this subject (not quite a thesis I know) Lynne's observations struck more than a chord or two. As you and I have discussed in the past the parallels with Nationalisation are stark. I have also always maintained that the railways ran on the local knowledge of the signalman, stationmaster or guard which it was not possible to document in a contract. I went to present to Ed Burkhardt in Doncaster in I guess something like 1994 or 1995 when EWS were looking for Project Managers for the construction of their Wagon Manufactury in York, we didn't get the job! Anyway great Vlog and thanks to Lynne.
