The Sinking Of The MS Melina Lauro:
The MS Jkoonderz Was Ordered By Amsterdam-Line And Was Built At The Dutch Shipyard Building. The Ship Was Christianed And Was Launched On September 6th 1946. The Ship Was Completed In November 1947. She Was Delivered To Amsterdam-Line On December 2nd 1947. On December 9th 1947 She Left On Her First Voyage From Amsterdam-Batavia (Today Jarakta). In 1957 The Traffic Of The Batavia Was Stopped And She Was Rebuilt By New Propellers. She Began Again Transatlantic Crossing On January 18th 1958 And She Was Charted To John Canada Line And Arrived Amsterdam-Sydney And Montreal. On February 3rd 1959 She Left On Her First Voyage From Amsterdam-Sydney-Cape On September 7th 1964 The Ship Was Sold To Italian Shipping Company Flotta Lauro Lines And Renamed MELINA LAURO. In October 1964 She Arrived At Cantieri Navale Dell Tirreno Shipyards For Rebuilding. On August 27th 1965 During Rebuilding, A Fire Broke Out On Board The Ship. 2 Workers Died. On March 11th 1966 The Melina Lauro Departed On Her Maiden Voyage From Genoa To Sydney. On September 17th 1979 She Was Laid Up In Genoa. In 1980 She Was Charted To Costa Cruises For 4 Years. On March 30th 1981 In Port Of Port Everglades She Caught On Fire, When The Fire Broke Out In The Engine Room And Gutted 12 Decks. On July 30th 1981 The Ship Was Sold For Scrapping In Kaoshuing, Taiwan. On September 22nd 1981 Then Another Fire Destroying The Ship, Later To Filled In Water. 4 Days Later The Melina Lauro Sank In The Pacific Ocean On September 25th 1981.
