Important U N Reports:

1. According to the 12th edition of the International Intellectual Property (IP) Index (2024) by the United States (US) Chamber of Commerce, India has retained the 42nd rank with an overall score of 38.64%.

2. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released its ‘Food Waste Index Report 2024-Think Eat Save Tracking Progress to Halve Global Food Waste‘ which tracks the progress of countries to halve food waste by 2030.


3. UN DESA released the 9th edition of ‘Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2024 (FSDR 2024) - Inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development‘ on the theme ‘Financing for Development at a Crossroads'.

4. As per the report released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Indian economy is expected to grow by 6.5 per cent in 2024 as compared to 6.7 percent in 2023.

5. The fourth quarterly (Q-4) report for 2023 of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) states that India’s service exports increased by 11.4% to USD 345 billion in 2023, amid uncertainty in the global economy.

6. The United Nations(UN) agency, International Organization for Migration (IOM) released the report titled “World Migration Report 2024”. The report revealed that India received over USD 111 billion in remittances in 2022.

7. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has released the 3rd edition of its World Wildlife Crime Report titled ‘World Wildlife Crime Report 2024: Trafficking in Protected Species’, which highlights the persistent issue of illegal trafficking in plant and animal wildlife.

8. According to the United Nations (UN) assessment report, “A World of Debt 2024: A Growing Burden to Global Prosperity, ” the global public debt (both domestic and external borrowing by governments) has reached USD 97 trillion in 2023, an increase of USD 5.6 trillion compared to 2022.

9. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)’s 2024 Child Nutrition Report titled “Child Food Poverty: Nutrition Deprivation in Early Childhood”, globally, 1 in 4 children (27%) are living in severe child food poverty in early childhood, this amounts to around 181 million children under 5 years of age.

10. Global Trends Forced Displacement in 2023 report published by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR), states that the forced displacement has increased to 120 million by the end of April 2024.

11. According to the United Nations (UN) annual report on Children and Armed Conflict, for the 1st time, Israel Armed Forces, Hamas armed wing, IZZ al-Din al-Qasssam and Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s armed wing, Al-Quds Brigades, has been placed to the list in gross violation of children’s rights.

2. PM Modi released a commemorative coin of ₹90 to mark RBI's 90th anniversary details

3. PM Modi released a commemorative stamp and coin to mark the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsava On April 21, 2024.

4. Giridhar Aramane, secretary, MOD released ₹250 commemorative coin to honor Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd’s 250-year legacy.
