Available for both Android and iPhone the wireless POKITMETER is one compact dmm! Its also a DSO and Data logger! Unfortunately the high price of admission, so-so performance and clunky software render this pocket meter a lonely 2 Stars!

I see one good feature besides small size is the fact that it offers a safety feature. One can measure the values from a safe distance as it goes up in smoke.

A question, have you ever tested an HT--INSTRUMENTS multimeter? If not its a top end multimeter that we use at work in italy

Interesting Meter !
BUT I don't want an App .
In 2-4 Years I will become useless, no Updates, no longer supported etc.
My first DMM is nearly 30 Years old, no "App", still working .!

going small is a great idea, but everytime a portable gadget designed to use phones or tablets as its only display, it always ended with cancelling its main purpose, portability that is. i mean, you have to go through many things before you can use it, for example, just to check your car battery voltage : switch on the meter, wake up your phone/tablet, set the display to always on (if the software don't do it automatically), pair the meter, search for a stand for the phone or tablet if you have to angle it, yada yada yada.., and it ended take up more work space and time than an old school pocketmeter does. so i think one thing worth from this pokitmeter is, as a tiny wireless datalogger.

🤣🇬🇧 Enough said, but definitely can see the potential in about 2 or 3 years time if some of the big guys get involved with the project. $80 definitely a killer. Best wishes from Northern Ireland..

Thanks for the cool review, Darren! Well....even if it's a bit of a fail, it is really cool! More a kinda proof of concept thing really. Hey, did it work on regular diodes? Maybe i missed it. Thanks! Keep on testing!

Does it have its own processor or do u need it to be attached on the pc? 😳.. I don't think it has its own processor, arm based microcontrollers are not that small... 😳. I think it's too expensive since it's basically just an extension of the pc, a plug in device... 😳.. I'll give it my 5 star though, it's a game ender...just think about the possibilities if u can reprogram its functionality from the pc... 😁

If it were half the price I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. It would be perfect for EDC.

Very different indeed, the one area I can see might be useful if people are able to develop specific apps and integrated into DIY projects like the Raspberry Pi or Arduino as part of their teaching, training, testing or educational tool kit.

One thing missing, if they made it possible to play it like a YO YO, I would love to buy it. Imagine the test leads double role for a YO YO string.

Gimmicky - a situation or two where this might be useful, I suppose, a fascinating play toy. Next!

At present it's seems not useful, but seems to be future

I occurs to me its main feature is its small size, yet you have to pair it with a smart phone thats basically the size of many DM's anyway, given that even its small size seems pointless.

The probes are too tiny to handle requiring time to get used to. At USD89, its too expensive and it needs to pair with a device to work. That's no difference than like buying a few pairs of expensive test leads and probes to pair them with my devices (an actual multi-meter and scope). I am sorry Darren but I have to give this Pokitmeter no star as it isn't a real innovation. What if a child found and use it to poke around the mains? It does look like a toy to begin with but again for us, its nothing more than a mark up test leads.
Keep up the good work Darren, hey when will you do analog multi-meter review?

This design has potential... Smart idea but failed in execution!

Yet another pointless bluetooth gimmick, its novel and all but no real practical need for it - seems like one of those ideas they did not because they should but rather just because they could. A person would be loopy to pay eighty bucks for a dysfunctional keychain fob--lol Im kinda unimpressed with devices that require a whole other device just to function, in this case without a cell phone its an $80 paper weight. Especially when you can buy a $35 DM thats far more functional and practical. I wish the manufacturers would take some of this spare engineering time and design a DM backlight we can simply turn on and off at will without a ten second time limit.
