As somebody that has backpacked extensively around the world, I have to say that visiting a capital city is the single worst way to experience a country. It rarely reflects the actual culture, attitudes or workings of a country. As in Saudi Arabia, where the capital is far more tolerant than the smaller towns would be.

As an Indian I can say that Saudi is as safe as any place can be in the world. There are many Indians working here without any problem.
