There is an increasingly international aspect to Philippine inheritance because of the Filipino diaspora.

It is now not unusual for a foreign citizen or for a Filipino based abroad to inherit Philippine property.

Some common situations are:
• You are foreign citizen who inherited property from
Filipino parents or relatives
• You are a Filipino who inherited from
former Filipino citizens or foreigners who passed away abroad OR
• You are a Filipino abroad who inherited from Philippine property
There are legal and practical considerations for each case. You will want to know what Philippine inheritance laws and processes apply.

We’ll talk about those and others here.

Hello i had a question and hoping somone could help. My dad and mum have both passed away and there is a property that my mum wanted me to inheret but my dad pawned the property to my auntie before he died. Before my mum died she continually asked my auntie to provide the papers so we could pay the loan and take back the pawned property in my name. My aunite continually said she did not know where the papers was for many years. Now that my mum has passed away my aunite is now saying she has the papers but she has a right to deny them because it has been so long. And i also fear that she might have sold the properties illegally. As my dad did not write a will. I was wondering how i would action this.
The property is in southern leyte and i am a dual citizen..
Please someone help🙏
