Do you have any good tips of differentiating easily between Plicae in the small intestines, and the gastric pits? The pylorus for example looks exactly the same as the large intestine...except for the vast abundance of goblet cells in colon...
any tips?

The only thing I miss from your classes is the proventriculus, since I'm a vet student. But, you can't have everything, hehe.

A little thingy: the submucosa connective tissue is dense, not loose.

Great vid, very helpful. i have only one question... You say chiefcells produce mucus, but don't they produce proteins, like gastrine in the antrum of the stomach?

How are the stomach cells protected, given the parietal cells seem to be situated significantly deep to the mucosal epithelium? 🤔

There are also some other type of cells in the stomach's lamina propria, the endocrinocytes that secrete serotonine, histamine and gastrine, the mucocytes or the caliciform cells that secrete mucus and the undifferentiated cells that regenerate the stomach's epithelium. There is also the auerbach plexus in the muscular lamina.

How do you get the slides to load so fast? I feel like I have to wait for ages.. And I'm on a high speed internet connection too!

Chief cells are not mucous cells, they are zymogenic cells that secrete mainly pepsinogen

@safa4eva: not according to Ross Histology, but anything is possible. I always hated the loose/dense distinction...
