I can sense a pattern here, "Once a renowned filmmaker falling off his grace" "A superstar with immense fandom being confused with his/her choices". All of these movies also have one thing common, they were the hyped pot boiler that were safe bets for their producer. They felt like a film from the POV of the producer rather than the makers.

2. Movies with great story but below average acting
3. Movies with potential to be good but the writer and screenplay leave the material on the table
4. Movies where a formula is being used to made
5. Movies where big directors and actors takes audience for granted without trying or transforming themselves to cater the story

Guntur kharam: offers no closure to Rahul Ravindran's character (gopal). He is not even acknowledged in the last seen. 😂. Post credits ignored gopal the same way his family did.

I disagree with your opinion on Malaikottai Vaaliban as although it does seems to drag on... The shots captured as well as cinematography is nothing but a marvel. Is it a great film? No. But, is it a fine film with legitimate effort in bringing finesse and a genuine attempt in bringing Indian Folklore to the big screen? Absolutely.
