Winter Has Come | How I Prepare for Belarusian Winters

Well, this season keeps bringing surprises. Layers of snow at the end of November - that was pretty unexpected. I was lazily getting ready for true winter closer to the end of December that barely managed to close all my plans until first snowfall.

I could spend this on a YouTube movie instead, but you and your videos deserve it more.

Everyone likes a worker. I am not sure how your houses are built but trapping air is the way to warmth. So builders foam for any draughts and double sided sticky tape and polythene for window frames secondary glazing...might seal the flooring not sure about access to it. Stainless steel mesh for the vents which will stop vermin entering the ducts.

In the spring, prune the top back to where you still have buds, you have removed some of the roots, so balance it by removing some of it's top.
I plant bare root tree we buy and always prune the top growth back heavily to balance them out, loose very few, but we MUST prune.

Hi Katsiaryna. Lovely to see you as always. Chicken wire around trees works great as a semipermanent protection for tree trunks.x

Wood has gone up in price here. Most people buy a load of cut birch trees but it’s so expensive. We mostly rely on a heat pump and use wood when it’s -15.c and below to save electric. This year is warmer we haven’t had -30’s yet so hopefully the wood will last the winter. Next season it will be searching the forest for old wood the way everything is going up in price…….greetings from the Arctic

Great video! You have done a wounderful work which will prevent your little plants from freezing. Many other veggies, instead, love cold weather: cabbages, colly flowers, turnips, some kind of salads.... Anyway your garden is also fantastic in autumn-winter and thanks to your videos we can learn a lot of useful things. Thank you for sharing

Despite the onset of winter you press on courageously with your routines... Impressive to see you working on your own and collecting fire 🔥 wood in the middle of the night... Thankfully we still have gas here in France 🇫🇷
