Great vid Bryan. Had my 05 FJR for 2 years now and have vibration in the front end coming down from 50mph and on the brakes....after a new tire install, new pads, new steering head bearings, new wheel bearings, heavy bar ends I saw no difference. Problem all along was the bobbins were seized from brake dist, road grime etc. After 15 minutes with a can of brake cleaner, bolt, wingnut, a couple of washers and my little impact I freed them up and its like riding a new bike. Moral of the story is the rotors may require maintenance over time on high mileage bikes. Keep up the great work!

Great video! I heard this sound when pushing down on my forks with the front brakes applied. All internet sources only talk about steering head bearings and fork bushings (both of which are fine on my bike). I can confirm that the sound came from my rotors. What a relief!

Yes, thank you, thank you. I read a rag about a Moto Guzzi V7 111 single front disc. He stated that his semi floating front brake disc made a shucking noise. I stated get over it, semi floating disc. Now I own a FJR 1300. Heavy bike. I feel like a heal. Big difference. I can feel it right through the bars. Now that will get your attention! One could spend a lot of money trying to sort this one out. I would love to put impact paper between the contact points. It would most certainly show the impact of the connecting parts. Great explanation. Yamaha own up!

Glad I watched your video. Had my speed triple back to the workshop to check the steering head bearings.
No play but the occasional knock when hitting brakes was driving me nuts.
Mechanic says it's the brakes, I now believe him 🤣

Same click I have on my Yamaha raider and it was making me nuts, tested stem bearings on a lift for looseness or unusual resistance no trace, was about to tear everything apart as wasn’t able to trace that clock and found this video! Very helpful 😉👍

Many thanks for this vid. I rode 3800 km in my MT 07 and few days ago I listened to that click sound at the front. I was so worried, but this clarified my doubts. Cheers!

Haha, I just bought my 02 GSXR and got a vibration in the steering when applying front brakes. I asked the guy how was he able to ride safely with that issue, he asked “what issue?” He said he never noticed the vibrations. After some research I learnt about semi floating rotors and mentioned to him about the stick bobbins. He said he never knew about this, all his friends’ bikes ‘ discs were stuck the same way. 🤷🏾😄 Moral, not all bike owners know about the machine they ride. I plan on cleaning mine today, hope it solves the problem 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾.

This helped me a lot! I was so worried about it in my Fjr2005.

I know this is an old video but thanks for this to confirm I do not have to get brakes for my Busa, back when I had a 900rr and an 02 750, I never heard it. Hell even when I bought my Busa back in May and rode 2.5hrs back home I did not even hear until a few months later and it annoyed me but I am glad this winter I dont have to swap those out

My supermoto, a DRZ400SM has alot of noise from the front rotor and it is a aftermarket race rotor, sketched me out when i first starting hearing it. but then i saw videos like this and my worries floated away in exhaust fumes. BRAAAAP!

Over the winterr, take your rotors off and bring them to a machine shop where they will PRESS your buttons for you and make them tight
enough so that you will never hear any noise at all. It will not make they warp, it will not make them dangerous...it just puts the tolerance back to specs.

Thx dude ! Literally just happened to me in my garage and I thought I had a problem! A click noise and than the brakes dragging. Simply moving bike in garage from full lock wheel position. Guess as it heats up riding it goes away ?

Thank you. I took my wheel off my 06 fjr and noticed this and it freaked me out. If I could hug right now, I would.

Lol, only on cheap bikes. My beemer 97 has 12 bobbins/rotor. Ok for racing but not for street. Refused Wof because of loose bobbins. Not cheap on beemers.Great vid Byran
