Got with my ex wife when her son was 5. We divorced after 10 years and my step son is now 17 going on 18. She and I had a son together. When we divorced I didn’t think he would want me in his life. My parents were divorced when I was around 6 I went to live with my grandparents. My mom dated a guy for years named John . He did all sorts of things with me he made things fun for me and he taught me alot .Then one day my mom picked me up for the weekend and John wasn't with her. I said " "where is John at work? My mom said no we broke up and he moved out. When I was about 19/20 I ran into him and we hung out off and on a few times but he had another family so I didn't want to cause any problems so I didn't go over there anymore. Sad really . He was such a cool guy.

I was in an 8 year relationship with a single mother. I was acting as full time dad. It took 5 years to truly win the kids over. Saturdays volunteering at the animal shelter really helped with the 2 girls, and teaching the boy to drive iced the cake with him. We're all going our separate ways now, but they still message me regularly and it's clear that the effort I put in has made a positive difference in their lives. Sometimes it's not about you. It's about the future.
