Quick tip, if you didnt know in rdr2 you can make the crosshair dot appear without aiming with your left trigger by lightly pressing on the right trigger. I dont know if this works on all controllers but i can confirm it works on wired xbox one controllers

let’s be honest - if the game doesn’t show a crosshair, it’s likely that you’re supposed to take gravity into account when you’re shooting, thereby making the crosshair useless

There's usually a reason games don't have crossbars for example, escape from tarkov your hip fire is where you gun is pointed not the center of the screen.

Not saying this is a bad method, it’s a really great method. But there’s another way, most monitors have the option to have a onscreen crosshair in the settings for the monitor. Not all have it but most do
