This should be a mandatory part of the theory test for all car drivers and also include difference of braking distance between HGV's to cars

Rule number 1: Don't stand an inch away from a HGV.
If you can't see the driver the driver can't see you.

The drive side mirror, can hide a van on a roundabout!

You can just have a blindspot mirror added above the windcreen facing down in front if the truck so you can see people that close

The blind spot is worse on the nearside front corner around to the middle axle. Good idea doing this as most cars drivers really don’t understand as they’ve never had it explained to them. There needs to be more education on larger vehicles and their blind spots etc.

We can see loads ahead of us. And speaking of blind spots the mirrors themselves are blind spots at the right angle I can lose other wagons. Add a trailers on the back and I can't see anything down one side.

The blind spot in my iveco is deadly. It’s caught me out several times. Now I make a conscious effort to lean forward to look around the mirror and a pillar. Really bad design

When I was learning to drive buses its scary the blind spot directly in front of the bus not being able to see a traffic cone 5ft in front an you don't get the mirrors like some trucks that show in front of them

Yeah that's why it's important companies have a front warning system when anything close, Sainsbury's trucks that operate in London have. Brilliant for knowing when something is in close approximately.

Every car driver should know that we are limited to 56mph so when trying to join the motorway don't expect me to move and actually put your foot down also if I start to overtake you don't just speed up because you can't concentrate for longer than 10 minutes at a time

Best mirror fit to a truck is a sunvisor wide angle mirror adjust your kurb mirror so the 2 mirrors work together no more blind spot and camera are useless compared to a piece of glass

The pillar plus the m.irrors themselves are blind spots, you have to move your head and wait a fraction longer before moving.
The more mirrors the easier to get overload on checking them especially driving in cities with for example cyclists coming up both sides at lights and jumping red lights and pedestrians walking under the window then stopping for traffic coming the other way. Its very mentally exhausting to drive properly.
It's easier if you don't concentrate and just turn the wheel and use the controls, but it can ruin your day when your wheels go over someone head.

If you can't see the driver either by line of sight or his mirrors he/she cannot see you it's that simple

not to forget that when turning even slightly left or right you lose sight of the entire side of your trailer so that is a 45 foot long blindspot! also if a vehicle is sat along side your passenger door there are times they can't be seen in any mirror or through the window.

Also left hand drive vehicles have blind spots too
