Apoquel💊Used for Allergies⚠️Potential Risks & Side Effects

APOQUEL 😱 Oclacitinib, AKA Apoquel.

From the Apoquel package insert, approximately 6% of test dogs developed cancers.

Side effects listed when using Apoquel include vomiting, diarrhea, liver failure, overwhelming bacterial and fungal infections, including pneumonia.

Apoquel does not "cure" anything; it is an immune suppressant. It is only labeled for use in dogs, and is unsafe for puppies under 12 months or senior dogs due to their weakened immune system.

Allergies, skin infections, and ear infections are related to immune system dysfunction, which commonly occurs secondary to gut dysbiosis (imbalance of good and bad bacteria within the bowel resulting in swelling of the cells lining the bowel and secondary leaky gut).

The basis of allergy treatment requires:
▪️ Removing or reducing allergen exposure whether that is food or environmental
▪️ Fixing the gut!
▪️Modulating the immune system

My daughter's dog was just diagnosed with melanoma of the mouth she's only going to be six. Her vet has pumped her with everything.apoqel cytopoint, eats kibble. I've tried to inform her of the natural way she didn't listen. She has spent a fortune with fungus, yeast infections and allergies . They have the money so that's not an issue. I told her all the money you've spent could of been used to heal her gut. I'd love to give a piece of my mind to her vet.

I went through all the meds and endless testing for my pittie with severe allergies (pustules, inflamed nail beds, super itchy, yeasty, chronic ear infections, etc), and nothing seemed to work. Finally came up with a ridiculously simple allergy protocol that eliminated 90-98% of her symptoms, and I always tell people don't bother with expensive testing without making these basic changes first:

1) Switch to raw or gently cooked diet with no starchy foods (no rice, potato, sweet potatoes, peas, or cooked carrots/squash) which feed yeast. Meats, bones, organs, and high-antioxidant veggies amd low-sugar fruits like dark leafy greens, cruciferous veggies (especially fermented), and berries. Best quality meats you can afford, as I later discovered my girl could eat organic chicken just fine, but not non-organic (I believe she was reacting to the gmos the chickens were fed). Raw is less allergenic than cooked, but not every dog will eat it.

2) boost the immune system and do regular liver detoxes. An overburdened liver produces histamine, so support it with herbs like milk thistle, burdock root, dandelion, etc.

3) keep the environment clean from chemicals like floor cleaners, air fresheners, fabric softener, lawn chemicals, etc.

4) use supportive nutrients and herbs. Omega 3's can help, but my girl was allergic to fish oil, so be aware this may cause more problems than they help.

The #1 best supplement I have found for allergies is vitamin C, a natural antihistamine. I have stopped countless ear infections COLD with 1-2 doses of vitamin C, its that effective! No more antibiotic drops.

Severe allergies can also be treated short-term with licorice root extract, a natural and safe steroid, with the consent of your holostic vet, but no more than 2wks at a time as it can deplete potassium levels.

Before I adopted my dog, he was put on Apoquel at 6 months! I know this because I trained him for a guide dog school. It nearly destroyed him. He is now 5 and I cannot begin to tell you his journey. It took 3 years to fix!

Dr Judy thanks for always giving us pet parents the truth! Now I can just share his video with everyone I know who's dog is on this instead of trying to explain myself!

From my personal experience with my Border Collie, DO NOT give your dog Apoquel ever. If your dog is on it, get them off it. You can try what I did. I changed my dog's diet to steamed fish and vegetables and managed to wean him off Apoquel. No more itching once he'd been on the fish diet for a couple of months.
But sadly the damage had been done after a year of Apoquel because he developed a really nasty skin tumor that was removed and found to be benign. But six months later I lost him to what seemed to be pancreas complications but I honestly suspect there was an internal tumor involved. And yes, I believe Apoquel caused those tumors.

My vet prescribed apoquel today to my 10 months old pup (8kg), despite the fact that it should be given to 1yo+ doggies. She also told me stop taking probiotics for now. None of the allergy tests weren’t done, she just immediately told me it’s a food allergy. I have my dog on Barf and i really try so hard to get her all nutrients she needs. When redness (and hair loss later) appeared on her neck, i switched all proteins and it just got worse during a week despite the diet change, so I doubt it’s the food. I gave her first pill today because i was convinced its necessary after the appointment. I won’t give her another one and I’ll try to do everything in can to figure out the real reason behind her itchy skin

Hello Dr. Judy, I'm a huge fan and follower! I'm certified by DNMU in pet nutrition. That being said, I have the itchiest chihuahua ever! His name is Barney. I have made him a burdock root and calendula oil that i rub on him- and his brother tries to lick off. He has only eaten a raw diet for the past 3 years. No sugary treats, just his fave freeze dried minnows. What the heck is making him itchy? I give nettles and quercetin.

My dog is almost 3 yrs old. She was diagnosed with dermatitis almost 2 years ago. She has protein allergies and environmental allergies. She’s been on and off and as of lately on Apoquel for over a year. She eats barf, no starches, I don’t use chemicals, I keep my house very clean and she’s still very itchy. I bathe her once to twice a week with a medicated shampoo as instructed. I’ve never been told any of these side effects only that it’s “super safe”. But now I want to help her naturally but I feel very lost. She can’t have Omega 3s bc she’s also allergic to salmon. Any tips are appreciated

Please look into the new law trying to be passed in St Tammany Parish in Louisiana that all dogs need to be spayed and neutered if you buy a dog! I thought we lived in the USA and should not force us to kill our dogs by spayed and neutered dogs right after buying them!????

Years after the saliva and blood allergy tests, raw feeding, several supplements (if not all) trying to fix ear infections and no luck yet. But don't accept apoquel or cytopoint or other drugs to reduce the itching. My poor girl hasn't been a happy dog for long.

Everything Dr Judy says is the truth, I was 1 who did not report 2 dogs on Apoquel, in my defense this was 16 yrs. When it first came out & I had not found Dr Judy & Julie Ann Lee/Adored Beast Apothicary information.

My dog lives on Apequel and bravecto, otherwise he suffers intensely with chewing and itching.
What can I do? I live in Southern Calif. Do you prescribe remotely?

I did the nutriscan test for my dog 3 years ago. No allergy to chicken, and he’s been raw fed ever since.
This is the second year my dog loses his belly hair. His skin gets flaky and dandruff-y before he loses the hair.
I’m now trying melatonin as I read it treats alopecia, but I don’t know what else to do or how to find out what’s causing that.. his thyroid test is normal.
I tried the 5 defenders mushroom and didn’t feel like it did anything.
He’s on In Clover Allergy powder which is helping his ears stay infection free.

I think all these health issues come from their puppy shots
