One of the best songs to ever come out in the mid 1970's in my mid teens. Good Performance !

It brought back a memory from when I was 21 years old playing in a bar called Sam’s dugout on fountain Street in Philadelphia, that was 50 years ago and I still to this day blast this song when ever I hear it.

Man, I remember some good ole days listening to the Jayhawks. The best bands are always underrated and unappreciated. Give me some Jayhawks and some Big Head Todd and fuk all that other noise.

It's high praise when a band makes you think more than just fantastic, but thrilling to hear

I sure wish someone would do a keyboard cover of this and put it on YT! This was a fine, fine, effort ladies and gents. Enjoyed it immensely.

Ten years ago, I was in love with a girl. She was awesome, but emotionally unstable. It was killing me, same feeling as riding a roller coaster knowing it has no brakes at all. Every saturday night, I could not wait to go to the same bar where she was (it was my favourite bar by the way, all of our mutual friends went there for many years ). Well, you could take for granted that this song will eventually play every night, like a tradition.
One night, when this song was playing, she came in front of me, stare at me very quietly, and kissed me. Softly, she said "well, it is a bad time for me, but this will pay off". Yeah, man, like a love scene in a musical.
She came and go many nights, we spent some time together until the next summer i had to stop, breath deeply and decide to walk away; that situation, as I said before, was killing me.
It took months to heal my wounds but after that, after two years, I met a girl in the most unexpected moment, she was nice, brilliant, good person and a great singer too! Now, she is my wife, and sometimes remember that young insanity (I was in love but I sure picked a bad time
to be in love, to be in love).

I´d wish to give one simple advice to my old self:

Enjoy yourself, this short life of ours is a roller coaster, but remember to slow down every now and then when you feel dizzy.

(Sorry for my English).

I love the Jayhawks! And I love this cut off 'Tomorrow The Green Grass', but it's pretty apparent here Mark is feeling disillusioned and on the last solo Gary just kind of gives up and the song is over. I suspect this was during the time Gary was going through his prescription drug abuse period...
That being said, Gary is on my list of favorite guitarists, with a style all his own, and Mark and Gary's harmonies get me fired up every time. I don't play this CD in the car much if other people are with because it's nearly impossible not to sing along.

Nice moment when bass player Marc Perlman gives Karen Grotberg a hug at the start of the song.
Would love to see a vid of this quality of Karen's "Last Cigarette" performance from this show. There is a fan shot vid here on Youtube. Great song.

And I would never post a song about someone who is in love with someone Only me, because I'm the girl who has songs in her heart...

On the recording there was a female backup vocalists (maybe Karen the keyboardist ?) that really added depth (not that this version isn't great)
