All you can do is hope and trust, It's not an exact science. In my opinion if you have a Top 5 pick, at minimum you should be getting the best player at their respective position. If you take a QB at 4 it's horrible value imo... You are literally taking a guy 3 other teams passed on. With a Top 5 pick... You don't even get to choose who you actually want, Pitts is the best available player at 4... No reasonable fan can fault the falcons for drafting him there, And if the price is right I would trade down but don't settle.

Would you rather have..Justin fields and his leg and arm talent with, Julio, Ridley Hurst in a Arthur smith system or Matt with a new great weapon like pitts with Julio and Ridley ...personally I think we should give the young man a chance ..Ryan has had Julio Tony gonzalas toddy white, Michael turner, Freeman,Ridley...We seen Matt in his prime with talented weapons...Plus Matt Ryan doesn’t have a strong arm ...I feel like fields would get the best out of Ridley with his speed and route Running ....and a better Redzone team 🤷🏽‍♂️
