My working cocker met a black lab, called Poppy, near the style off the moor lane. at first they seemed to greet each other, and then Poppy attacked the much smaller Rosie - with much squealing from Rosie and growling from Poppy. When we managed to separate them, Rosie was running around with no obvious injury, so I told Poppy's owner that there was no harm done, and put it down to a lot of shouting.
They left, and some time later Rosie went swimming, and came out screaming, probably because of the cold water;w with the help of a fisherman (also a dog owner) we the ascertained that Rosie had deep wounds to her neck, narrowly missing her carotid artery. That afternoon she was operated under general anaesthetic needing two layers of sutures.

If you own Poppy, be aware that she caused £650 vets fees, as well being aware that your dog should be reported for off lead aggression to the police
