Thanks very much for the kind review! And to answer your question, I'm 6'4. Much appreciated!

The fluidity of his playing at the end looks almost like a dance....very tasteful playing

The Matt Halpern game - if a cymbal stops moving, you lose.

My boi's so relaxed it actually looks like he's dancing, just vibing to the song. Absolutely killing it. Oh, and that snare sound...

What I love about Matt's Drumming (especially in this song) is that you see his pure emotion in his face the whole time while playing.

Never thought about it until Matt Halpern is the Chad Smith of prog metal! (Big guy, baseball cap, plays hard, focused on groove, ) I love his pocket.

Andrew.. as a school teacher for 26 years, I can only imagine the interactions between you and your students... your excitement and wonderment while watching is just so REAL... you must inspire your students with your enthusiasm at OTHER people's talent... so many people put on airs about their talent, and you just GUSH compliments to others... I would love to sit in your class.

His play through of 22 faces is part of what inspired me to start learning the drums, so technical yet always serves the music and he grooves really hard

It never fails that I get choked up for that last section of that video. The pure passion pouring out of him is something I can’t say I’ve seen in many musicians.

It is a walk in the park for him, dude didn't even break a sweat. You can say this is one of Periphery's ballads.

This was an interesting first pick for Matt and Periphery.

Highly recommend checking out something like “Reptile”, “The Walk”, “Racecar” or “Stranger Things”

I read in an interview that the emotion of this song got to Matt because he lost one of his dogs prior to recording this album. And what I read is that he was crying while recording this song which makes it so much more emotional for me to hear that. I always admired Periphery and Matt especially for his kind of musicalitiy that he brings to their songs. I still use his signature sticks to this day because they feel so nice to play. They are basically 2B with a feeling of 5B.

His drum playthrough of Psychosphere got me into Periphery several years ago. Easily my top band since

Andrew, I'm stoked to see that you finally got to Matt Halpern! He's one of my favorite drummers. I actually met him at a VIP Meet & Greet once; we chatted, he signed a drum head of mine, and took a photo. He wrote "The more you move, the more you groove" on the drum head. :D

Some other playthroughs he's done that are worth making videos about are: Marigold, 22 Faces, Psychosphere, Garden in the Bones, Reptile, The Way the News Goes, CHVRCH BVRNER, and Prayer Position. He's so fluid, and playing is effortless for him.

I had the pleasure of attending one of his clinic's last year and he really stresses the importance of relaxing entirely and letting your body flow with whatever you're playing. Which he of course has mastered!

He's definitely very fluid with his motions and some of the poly rhythms he plays in their other songs are so good! If you want more and to see another side of his performing that has a bit more intensity I would check out his plahthrough of their song 22 faces!
