GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted in India for admission to postgraduate pharmacy courses. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The exam is held once a year in the month of January.
GPAT is a computer-based test (CBT) and is of 3-hour duration. The exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from various topics such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and others. The total marks for the exam are 500, and each correct answer carries 4 marks while there is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
The eligibility criteria for GPAT include a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) or a Master's degree in any branch of Science, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or equivalent. The application process for GPAT usually starts in November, and the exam is held in January. After the exam, the results are declared, and based on the scores, candidates can apply for admission to various postgraduate pharmacy courses in India.
