ORCHID PRIMARY BLOOM INSPIRING #SHORTS

#SHORTS video: OMG, having a senior moment on my narration. Lol. This video is about a Phalaenopsis orchid with stunning bloom. Amazing color so vibrant and inspiring, indeed. Repotting, less watering with little fertilizer, place it in a different flower pot will help this plant grow healthier. The good news is that phalaenopsis are among the easiest orchids to grow, as long as the following are followed. The culture of Phalaenopsis orchids involves windowsill light and consistent moisture. Phals do very well as houseplants and will grow and flower in a moderately bright windowsill. Each year a Phalaenopsis will grow one or two new leaves. Once the growth phase is complete, usually in the fall, a bloom spike will emerge from the stem beneath the second or third leaf from the top. Sometimes we have to help a Phalaenopsis that is grown in a consistently warm home to realize it is fall by allowing it to experience lower temperatures.

Most of my phals growing indoor and in wood chips, sphagnum moss, coconut husk chips and perlite. My phals are happy growing this way just looking at the healthy leaves and roots. This require watering more often due to wood chips and moss dries out faster, therefore, I mist the plant daily and water once a week.

BTW: I fertilize my orchids once a week. Every orchids grower location is a different environment, which is important to orchids. In my environment, I stopped fertilizing when the buds starts forming. All of my orchids are kept indoor on east window of the house to capture the morning sunshine during cold season. Then I hang them out in a shaded area late spring til early fall. Definitely my stress reliever during the pandemic. Great waking up to see such beautiful healthy plant everyday.
