In New Zealand throughout the 80s ( Especially the early 80s) there were few black artists teenaged  brown girls could listen to, apart from MJ and Prince. So when these guys came out they had an instant audience of admirers that wouldnt meet that need again until the arrival of Milli Vanilli. Although the latter didnt end well. Lol
