I heard the propeller was going at full speed because they were trying to outrun that sub or make it to port as fast as possible. But couldn’t turn the propellers off due to system failures.

It has been pointed out that in the movie the ship was sunk by a German Spy acting as a Commander (Co-Captain) sunk the ship with a bottle that made a big explosion. In a lot of videos with Sleeping Sun about the Britannic they say it was a torpedo. What actually happened the first torpedo missed and another crew member shot the other one. So the only explainable reason is that a few miles ahead another U-Boat left a Mine. There has been quite a few historians that still believe it was a torpedo but that's not true. Now I am not completely sure but I am just going with what most historians said.
