It's good to see you back Mike!! I hope all is well with you and your family. I love all the new and interesting product in regards to tone modeling and shaping but at the end of the day I'm still and old school tube head. Stay safe, Stay Strong.

your knowledge is immense and your ability to showcase gear is really unmatched IMO... and as usual I really dig the playing.

I like the easy-to-read close-up aspects of the video, easy to screenshot for future reference.
Cheers

Another drop of FRFR in a sea of FRFR cabinets. They have kind of priced themselves at the top echelon of the market. So a head to head battle between the Atomic CLR, Red Sound RS.12 Pro, and the Friedman ASM-12 would be in order.

PA speakers were designed to accurately reproduced a "recorded" signal. They tend to sound very flat and 2D, whereas Guitar Cab Speakers are purpose-built for the guitar's frequency range (roughly 80 Hz to 5 kHz). The amp and speaker are intentionally designed to add warmth, harmonic distortion, and dynamic response that make the guitar sound richer and more 3D. So to do the job, this cab needs to have speakers designed to do more of what a guitar cab speaker does.

I have yet to see anyone prove the TONEX Cab can reproduce the tone of a real amp and cab (like a tweed deluxe) by putting them side by side and setting up a couple diff good room mics, recording them A/B, showing they sound virtually the same AND there was no need to do a massive amount of EQ tweaking in the profiles.

Michael glad to you are all doing ok. So do you think this is a great/better home set up for X88IR and Friedman IR pedals at reasonable volumes at home vs studio monitors or having to choke these units through the return of a tube head?

Hey Sir... i just bought a twin TONEX CABs set for a full (real) stereo setup and i'm waiting for the delivery... so... i'm in (just to say!). And - as in many other cases - you are responsible for my poverty! 😆
I have a question that no other TONEX CAB video on YT has answered: the AUX line level IN is or isn't "affected" by the EQ/MIC-LIVE/IR settings on the main IN.
I hope is not ! I hope is the "sh**t in/sh**t out" solution!
And... using the main IN and the AUX in what comes out from the TONEX CAB OUT? (that for the direct to DAW or a main mixer/PA)
Tnx as always!

That's Definitely one way to check your final mix.

Thanks for the video. I was thinking of sending the Tonex signal to a small audio interface, then send cables to studio monitors. It would roughly be the same price but give me stereo and I can hook my computer up to the same audio interface for YT and backing tracks.

Hmmm, I really like my FR-10 with a Tonex modeler. It's a really great combo.

I don`t understand why IK didn`t put the Tonex one Technology in that Cab and instead just the option to load IR`s in.If it would be able to load whole amp captures, that would have make a huge difference. This is just another FR cab 🤷🏼
However this is a great demo video, thanks for that Michael Nielsen. I enjoy this channel a lot!

thank you for not close-micing a FRFR. I don't know why people do that in their reviews.

Michael i have a FRFR speaker that i made with 2x8" Full Range Speakers and it sounds good better then Studio Monitors for my modelers but i got better tones from my Solid state And Tube Amps(Bugera 333)into my Marshall 1960a 4x12 Cab, i go into the Front Clean Channels or effect Return of these amps with Cab Sims and IRs turned Off in my Modelers.I would look in a different direction other then FRFR Powered Speakers, let me explain, I would like to see some company come out with a Special Designed Amp for Modelers that is not FRFR but a proper designed Guitar Speaker to sound good with Modelers with Cab Sims and IR's Turned Off, You could have A new kind of Speaker Modeling built in this amp to make it sound like a real Guitar Amp Speaker that pushes more air and simulates a variety of real speaker Cabs.

I would have controls for Cabinet Resonance and Parametric EQ to fine tune your Cab tone, i would also add a selection of Power Amp Tube Modeling for different Tube types and Transformers! This may take a another read to sink in what i am saying here, if Designed right a product like this would be a Game Changer because you do not have to go through Hundreds of IR's trying to decide on the best ones to use plus a product like this would get you much closer to the sound of a real Tube Amp from your Modeler without using a FRFR Speaker!
