I now live in Tokyo. When I visited America, I had a small skin infection. I’ve had these many times before, and knew exactly what antibiotics I needed. in the US, finally got the appointment to see a doctor. They kept nagging me about health insurance, of which of course I had none. Total cost, was $250 and I lost three days of my life. Here in Japan, I saw the doctor, and six dollars later I was fine.

Just last week, got a tooth filled. The cavity was cured for under $20. I get my teeth cleaned three times a year, less than $15 per cleaning. I love my public “socialized”healthcare. It’s wonderful. You Americans have not a clue what you’re missing.

And oh yeah, I live on the east side of Tokyo. My rent is.7.5 mon yen/month (or around $500) for reasonably nice place about seven minutes from the train station.

Honestly, you couldn’t pay me enough to live back in the US.

I'm a US retired person living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It's amazingly easy to live here for many good reasons. I go back every year to the USA to file my taxes, get a check-up (I'm a cancer survivor), and check on my SF Bay Area house (which I rent out). Every year it gets harder & harder to return. Finally, this year the thought of returning almost has me in a panic attack. I will be leaving my stress-free, easy living country for a country where ordinary life is so difficult & unpredictable. But that's the way I see things. It's just my opinion. Other people may differ. Everybody must find their own path in life. Only you know if it's leading in the right direction. Believe in yourself.

Thank You, Your videos are so educational and inspiring people to move. I live in NYC make a decent 6 figure income and I have saved up over $500k in investment. 3 years ago I partially moved to an African country. Whenever i am in Africa my life and mood is happier and much more peaceful. I have visited over 40 countries and people are living and enjoying life in many third world countries outside America. Whenever, I come back to NYC, i realize that no matter how much I make, I cannot never be as happy and some of the people I know living in these third world countries. People are living life with less in these countries, here the weather is great and they have the Indian ocean always warm and gentle. I respect You for putting You face out and talking about these things, it's very bold and courageous and You are inspiring many.

Like you I'm ex military, 12 years in the RAF. I signed up and swore allegiance to Queen and country, Now days I wonder what is a "country"? There are good and bad people in all countries yet we follow blindly the flag of the nation we're born into. My allegiance now is to friends and family no matter what country they come from. It's hard to be patriotic when your, so called, leaders are all in it for power and financial gain, and never give you a straight answer to a simple question.

I do love the history of the UK and generally speaking people are great especially around Yorkshire where I live.

Another issue is we have an aging population and the care cost are off the charts (My mum pays over £6000 ($7500)) a month for her care home. If you can't pay it they take all your money down to the last £26K to pay for it, including assets. You can save all your life and lose all your saving in a blink.

We do have free health care but not dental anymore. The National Health Service is free but not fit for purpose, patients are spending up to 2 days in A&E waiting to be seen. Non urgent surgeries can take years to get to the top of the list.

There are no jobs for life anymore, like the US, it's impossible to get on the housing ladder. I think in a lot of ways the US, UK and Canada are in the same sinking ship.

From California, but after 32 years I left in 2008. Had minor epilepsy, so while I could get ssdi in USA, I couldn't work. Financial liability, drive, leave California, have a wife. House, kids.
So I took a job teaching in Korea. 2k a month. But only responsible for food an entertainment. Saved 10 to 15k a year.
Worked all over Asia. In 2020 married 2023, built a beachfront house, all paid in cash.
Look nationally or globally for the best resources and opportunities for you.

Credit to this individual having the courage to live in another country for a better quality of life. I am in the works to leave the US permanently. My reasons...better quality of life, affordable housing, healthcare, no gun violence, better quality of women. As i said before, The American Dream is dead. It's now The American Nightmare.

What makes a lifestyle first world? I've concluded it's running water, on-demand electricity, local markets with healthy food, access to manufactured goods (think kitchen appliances), ability to easily build a structure, reasonably priced safety/security, and neighbors you can trust.

i retired as a professor in 2019. Rising costs, increased isolation. between social security and pensions i should have a comfortable lifestyle. Not extravagant, but comfortable. I have been going to Philippines now for several years. I hate to give up on the country of my birth, but my country has given up on me.

I can confirm that strong community matters. For example in Bratislava, Slovakia (eastern Europe) the 6-7 y.o. kids can easily go to school using public transportation without being supervised by parents. Average salary is 1, 2-1, 5k month.

I want to do this so bad. I want to get away from the risky and harsh economy. I always voted payed attention but was never all that riled up about politics. But as an American born African, the DEI talk rally has been a slap in the face. I've worked hard as a school teacher and in education and other field for years only to be seen as unqualified low quality labor? I want away from that, I'm not interested in arguing that for the rest of my life. I like all people's, but I will always go we're treated with respect, especially now that I'm getting into my 40's, life is kinda short . Honestly if I sold everything, I legit could buy a house in Kenya, a nice one but not over the top, then tutor and do a few other things online to sustain and income. Perhaps I'll get a job at an international school after a year or two. Every place has problems, but the ethnic hierarchy will waste valuable healthy and happy years let alone the harsh living costs and long work days.

I personally prefer Japan as the country I prefer to live in. I can buy a house for $20, 000 and live in a extremely safe country with high quality food and transportation. I want to live long term on the outskirts of Tokyo such as Saitama or Gunma I think.
