Today we change it up a little with animated documentary Borley Rectory 2017, available on Amazon.

Summary: Borley Rectory is an animated documentary chronicling what came to be known as 'The most haunted house in England'. The legends attached to the rectory at Borley and famed paranormal investigator Harry Price's subsequent investigations of them, caught the public's imagination during the late 20's in time becoming one of the world's most notorious ghost stories. Borley Rectory will examine the legend, the controversial investigations and a ghost story that may well reveal more about what might have been missing from Borley rather than what might have been invading it.

Two wildly different recommendations available on Netflix: 'Grabbers' is a fun Irish monster movie, think 'Tremors' with more rain and alcohol. Then there's 'Errementari: The Blacksmith and The Devil' which a truly wonderful film based on a Basque fairy tale. I cannot recommend this one highly enough, it has the feel of Guillermo Del Toro at his finest and the Devil of the title steals the show with his charismatic performance and incredible make-up.

There are some great M.R. James stories that could benefit from this approach.

Reece Shearsmith! That was a face I wasn't expecting to see. Went to add it to my queue just now and it appears it's not available on Prime in the US, except on DVD.

I really love the look and feel of this movie. Hopefully his next effort will have a better story. With the right script, this could be a blockbuster.

I know a bit about Borley Rectory, so I may take a look at this film anyway, in spite of reservations expressed - it certainly looks creepy. A film I recommend looking at is A Dark Song from 2016, streaming on Amazon Prime, Vudu, Google Play, ITunes. About a woman who hires an occultist to conduct a terrifying ritual. Minimal cast, almost one setting, a disturbing story, and made with real intensity and commitment. Truly unconventional horror.

It looks like a slicked up FMV CD-ROM game without the inputs.

Thanks chaps, I added this to my list a few days ago and was in two minds about it. Now I think I'll give it look. Keep up the good work and stay dark.

I love your honest but fair reviews. Sounds like this is an enjoyable film, while not being stellar in all areas. Stay safe!

I’d like to suggest Hacked on Amazon Prime.
I saw it a few years ago under its original title, The Den and its an under appreciated gem imo.
Don’t let its style of storytelling put you off, it precedes stuff like Unfriended and others of that ilk and tells its story significantly better.

This is a nice surprise! I actually live a couple of miles from Borley, and the church there can be seen on the hill I live on. Haven't visited too much, as it's pretty much common knowledge to anyone living in the area that all those stories are fake.

When I first started watching the video my immediate thoughts went to of course the Haunting (the original with Julie Harris and Claire Bloom) and of course The Shining. the idea of going back and telling the history of a particular house is nothing new but what I thought towards the end was it reminded me a lot of Castle of Terror AKA castle of blood with Barbara Steele.

Thanks for the tip, guys. The film certainly appears to have a creepy look to it. Always fun to find a hidden gem somewhere.

Who makes a movie without a story that has a beginning, middle and end? With the cool and creepy images it would have been a winner.

Dead Beat by Dawn on Shudder is total grindhouse madness.

It does not appear to be available in America. I was curious to check it out. It looks like a 90's video game.

This slipped me by (as have a lot of these films) but looks right up my darkened and forboding alley.

Please review The Case of the Bloody Iris, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Edwige Fenech is a treasure and needs to be more well-known.

Good review. I think it's guilty of falling somewhere between drama and documentary but it is still an interesting curiosity nonetheless.
