The biggest problem with the idea of "wait 4 years" is the right to a speedy trial. Even the New York case that has the judge claiming that he can just hold off on sentencing for 4 years until after Trump leaves office is a blatant violation to that right. The government can't just drag out a criminal trial until whatever time period they deem fit.
