Thankfully, nobody in my family owes any mortgages or student loans, since we consider both of those kinds of debt to be amoral.

This is why everyone in my family saves to own their/our homes outright, since obligations to a monthly mortgage barely provides any genuine security, as well as makes the freedom of relocation nearly impossible. Also, I believe that the banks writing the home loans should be legally required to contract third party homeowner’s insurance since after all, THEY are the “real homeowners, ” until more of a mortgage than is owed has been paid or is just paid off to begin with. Plus, a LARGER proportion of people here in Florida already own their homes outright than in most areas of the country.

How can people expect to have the market value of their homes increase, and not the cost of insuring that home?

What irony, John Galt, the hero of rationalizing greed. I'm sure John would say "the business of America is business. Floridians have a front seat to watch the invisible hand of the free market working its miracles. Insurance companies can't stay in business by handing out money. Investment returns are based on risk. The greater the risk the higher the return on investments. Do Floridians want socialism were nanny government assumes risks for people bad decisions of where to live?
