Unit 1 Vocabulary | ASL Level 1 - American Sign Language

A vocabulary review video for Unit 1 of ASL Level 1. Compatible with the Master ASL! Level One curriculum, along with some modifications of my own. I work at a grocery store and there's a couple who comes in and they're both hard of hearing or maybe deaf and I felt the need to be able to communicate with them. Two other people came through my line today who were deaf. There aren't any classes to learn ASL in my town, so these videos are very encouraging and helpful. Thank you for helping me get started.

This is really useful. There are some signs that I have been signing slightly wrong but it matters to me because when you get down to the essence of learning a language; every little detail counts. I have a friend who is deaf-blind and sometimes he can’t see me well so I’m really motivated to make sure I am signing crisp, clear, and accurate, so I really appreciate these videos

I just enrolled in an ASL course at a nearby college as an continuing education class. It only meets two days a week, and I wish it was a daily class! Your videos provides me with much needed practice in between lessons, and they're truly helpful, especially since I don't have anyone to practice with. I've always wanted to learn ASL, and I'm super excited!

I barely understood the last part, but if I'm correct, it's something along the lines of "It's ok if you're confused or don't understand, just practice." That's obviously not the exact translation but that's as far as I know

Since this is a learning video you should really allow us to enable closed captions because you give a lot of example sentences and try to clarify mistakes that we could be making that we shouldn't but a lot of the time that makes it a little unclear of which way is the correct way of signing the word one really good example of this was when there was the word key terms in the background for that section I couldn't tell at all what you were trying to say or what the key terms were so please allow closed captions please and thank you

I’m enjoying this tutorial. As a hearing person, I was taught very basic ASL when I was young. I’m currently looking into taking ASL at my university in the fall. Although, My biggest fear is that the signing is so quick that I’m not always sure what I’m seeing, or that I’m repeating it incorrectly. I’m definitely going to subscribe to this channel and hope I can catch on.

Hi, I'm Faith. I'm hearing and I've just attended Basic Sign Language class. We called it Sarawak Sign Language (English, East Malaysia). The structure is probably similar to ASL or other variants, but most importantly, I think is the deaf culture that I need to understand to sign better.
I like the lessons, and will try to complete watching all. Thanks for the time and effort.
