Statewide Trauma Summit Day 2: Opioid Use Prevention and Opportunities for Policy Change

NC Attorney General Josh Stein, via video, described current NC strategies to protect children from addiction and substance use, and the role of pharmaceutical settlement monies in trauma-informed opioid use prevention. April Bragg, PhD, (Dogwood Health Trust) discussed DHT’s work in tackling child trauma, a potent contributor to addiction, followed by Linda Richter, PhD, (Partnership to End Addiction), who presented addiction policy work at the national level. The summit concluded with brief presentations on opportunities for policy change by Dr. Melissa Clepper-Faith, Diana Fishbein, PhD, and Jesse Kohler (CTIPP), and a participatory advocacy training facilitated by Whitney Marris (CTIPP).
