My review of Jack Womack's 1993 Scifi classic Random Acts of Senseless Violence. 12 year-old Lola Hart and her family live in a future New York City, a city and country on the verge of collapse. As she deals with issues with family and friends violence builds to breaking point around her.
Random Acts of Senseless Violence was critically and commercially overlooked on release but has since gained a cult following. Is it deserved?

It’s in the Gollancz SF Masterworks series. I just ordered a copy.

This is not a great novel but an interesting one. Womack has created a dystopian future world of note with the 'Dryco' series of novels beginning with Ambient in the 1980s. Random Acts was written as a spin-off prequel to the events of Ambient and the background of economic and social collapse that gave way to the future world depicted in his earlier novels.

I love the ambient series. I think it’s the best series besides Stephen Kings The Dark Tower series. To tell you the truth I like the Ambient series barely barely better. I can’t believe more people don’t know about this incredible series. Does anyone know the order that they go in story wise? I have all his books (even a couple signed by him) so I know when they came out but I want to know the order they are in Story wise. Anyone know?

It's mandatory? You'd be penalized for not having a spoiler alert?
