This video will show you how to set up your Xbox 360 wired controller on Windows 10.
1. Plug the USB connector of your Xbox 360 controller into any USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your computer
2. Windows 10 will automatically install drivers for your controller, thus you won't have to download or install software other than Windows 10 updates.
3. Play a game and test your controller by pulling a trigger, pressing a button, or moving a stick on the controller.

I would like to ask that can I just pull out my wired xbox 360 controller just like that from my PC, or I have to safely deactive it before like with a USB Harddrive or pendrive?

For those still experiancing the issue even after all of the fixes. Connect a powered usb hub (or connect a usb hub using two spare usb ports on the computer). The wired controller tends to struggle with some usb ports on some computers, even if the drivers are installed, so is more of a power draw issue than a driver one. I've tried this on a few PC's when facing this issue and has worked everytime.

So to summarise, it IS plug and play, despite the manual that comes with it saying you have to install the driver from the disc before inserting the controller to USB port....
