Ghanaian workers also deserve better. I agree with her.

Her issue is the fact that things are sold in dollars here. Even though our economy isn’t the same as US

The issue is that most of the companies have outsourced recruitment to external recruitment companies, and that saves them the cost going through the whole recruitment process. It saves them additional cost benefit that they would get if they were permanent staffs. I worked for Vodafone and they outsourced the recruitment, so the recruitment company will reduce the money they will pay as salary. We are our own killers

It is only in Ghana that you can earn 1000 cedis as monthly salary and spend more than what you earned within 2 weeks.

Businesses don’t charge in cedis because its value changes often, which can cause losses because the value can go lower and the money you have will not be enough to restock and make it hard to keep prices steady for customers.

It doesn’t take a lot Sheldon. Little by little. Biweekly salary is the way, not that alone but let us start somewhere.

The main issue here is that when the minimum wage is low, our prices of goods should reflect that and be cheaper. However, prices are not regulated, and this creates an imbalance. If we compare Ghana to other countries, our economy may be stronger or weaker, but we are still competing with the dollar. Everything is priced in relation to the dollar, which is a huge problem. For instance, if the same item is sold in the US, UK, or Canada, it's often the same price here in Ghana—or even more expensive—despite the fact that our economy in way lower (x10). This shows just how expensive it is to live in Ghana compared to other countries.

Even locally produced goods are competing with the dollar, and shockingly, they often cost the same as imported goods. Take electricity and data, for example. In many countries, electricity is paid monthly, and my bills for both electricity and data with better quality are far cheaper than what is paid in Ghana for the same services even worse. And despite the lack of value in the product, we often hear that GDP is higher in these countries, yet ours that is low, we have same prices of common food items which don't reflect any of that. Some people are just wicked. Inflating prices of things and poor value for our money.
