Thanks for showing me where to find these settings! This was driving me mad. They are not where anyone who has used the Internet for more than 25 years would expected them to be found at – Settings & Privacy, Settings, Apps and Websites (on the web). Where it clearly says: *"These are apps and websites you’ve connected to your Facebook account by either logging into them with Facebook or by connecting an account you have with them to your Facebook."* But they (Meta) obviously made sure that this doesn't apply to Instagram. They don't want us to remove that data connection between Facebook and Instagram, and even when you do that, it says in the dialog (as seen in this video), that they will still retain some sort of data exchange between the two services, for things like doing a head count (how many users are using this or that).

But even now that I know I need to go to the new "Meta Accounts Center" to separate the accounts, this doesn't seem right, and it doesn't sound right. 01:05 You "remove Facebook from Instagram" by tapping on the Remove button for Instagram?? That doesn't make sense. That's like saying you push the accelerator – and not the break pedal – to stop a car. You either got this backwards, or they (most likely) intentionally made it backwards, just for the hell of it and to screw everyone. 01:14 That dialog doesn't say it will "remove your Instagram account from Facebook". It says it will "remove this [Instagram] account from your Accounts Center". You said you wanted to remove your Facebook account, not your Instagram account, which is why it doesn't make sense. It's funny how they chose to word it as "your Accounts Center", as if you own it somehow, as if this is the account itself (but which one?). The Accounts Center is a separate entity, separate from Facebook and Instagram. It's merely a dashboard that you use to manage "your Facebook account" and "your Instagram account", or that's the way I see it. But here is where it gets interesting. What account is the Accounts Center attached to? The Facebook account or the Instagram account? If Instagram account, then what will happen to the Accounts Center if the Instagram account it was attached to is "removed" (whatever that means, technically)? Does it fall back on its own instance of Accounts Center? Is it possible to have two separate instances of Accounts Center, one for a Facebook account and one for an Instagram account? Presumably yes, if they are not connected, i.e. if you do not log into Instagram with your Facebook account. Otherwise no, because if they are connected, as seen in this video, then they both share the same Accounts Center. So this turns into a chicken and the egg problem. Which came first? Chicken or the egg? Did you connect your Facebook to your Instagram account, or your Instagram account to your Facebook account? And what will happen to one or the other if one is removed from the "Accounts Center"? Can you have an empty Accounts Center "account" without any Facebook or Instagram account?

Meta is desperately and frantically catching on to what Google has had for more than a decade, namely a centralized dashboard (Google Account) where you can manage all Google products and services. A job badly done and long overdue. Now you have all these different places you have to hop around to get things done. Just like Facebook now owns itself through Meta at the top of the organization, the Accounts Center is at the top of the pyramid for control and management of "accounts", with Facebook and Instagram underneath. You need to have this perspective to better understand what's going on. Yet it still doesn't make much sense when you look at the options. I would personally rather not have to deal with this garbage, I rather not touch Facebook nor Instagram, but I'm trying to help relatives of mine with Instagram. Your video helped me help them. Thanks!
