A Stunning Smartwatch With A Familiar Failing – New Moto 360 Review

When the first Moto 360 was announced back in 2014, it was the only round smartwatch you could buy that ran on Google's new "Android Wear" platform. So despite some compromises like an ancient Texas Instruments chipset and that so-called “flat tire” on the bottom of the screen, the first Moto 360 sold well. Still, the smartwatch would ultimately only see two generations before Motorola canceled the line, citing a lack of broad appeal.

Flash forward to late 2019: British Columbia-based eBuyNow announces that it’s resurrecting the Moto 360 brand for a new smartwatch (aptly called the "new Moto 360"). I'm skeptical of licensed brand names on the whole, and this product was no exception. But then I got a sample of my own and used it during CES 2020 and for the weeks since ... and you know what? This "new Moto 360" hits a lot of the right notes.

I just bought a first gen 360 on ebay for $30. It still works great and looks very modern. It's hard to believe it a 6 year old smart watch. I don't know why the 360 didn't really catch on.

I've been enjoying my Galaxy Wear Active, it's pretty decent for the price and gets the job done. I also have use a Fossil HR Hybrid that's super flashy and practical.

Personally, one of my first favorite smart watch was the Moto sport in fiery red. It was perfect for the gym. I didn't mind the 'flat' tire everyone griped about. I wore it until the battery life made it unusable sadly.

Still wear 2015 rose gold, ladies Moto 360 Gen2. Level of CUSTOMIZATION (band, case, bezel) phenomenal + STAINLESS STEEL STANDARD👏🏾. Functionality better on my Apple Watch 3 but Moto watch WAY CLASSIER!🤷🏿‍♀️💖

The Moto360 Flow watch face is one the best I have ever seen... probably, THE BEST. IF only the battery lasted longer, say for 2 days, it would be worth it. I have this at home, but I can't use it as the battery dies before my workday is over -- meaning, the batter lasts maybe 10hrs, on a good day.

I've had a fossil sport for a while now, and had all the buggyness that comes with Wear OS. I saw a random comment that suggested to turn off the auto brightness to speed things up.

For whatever reason it worked! My watch hardly hiccups or freezes at all now. It makes using this watch much more tolerable.

Sucks to hear that new watches still have performance issues though.

I still use the Moto 360 2nd gen. Bought in Feb 2016. It was the best smartwatch around then. Still works fine. I guess I am still living the nostalgia.
