My phantom power just burned out (for the second time) stopping me from getting my game reviews out for the last week! I'm fed up with all that crap so I'm going with this setup. The Audio-Technica ATR2500-USB sounds better than the 50 dollar condenser mic I'm using now and it's all in one, so I won't have to worry about separate power anymore...thank you I just found my new mic!

I have been hesitating about purchasing this mic because of the mixed reviews, but you provided exactly what I was looking for: a "hands-on" review, including side/back response, keyboard typing pickup, and how it sounds from farther away!!! Totally awesome and, no, you should not wear socks in your own home ... good for you! :D

Just wanted to post an update as I bought this microphone 4 years ago and still to this day it is working flawlessly and sounds fantastic. Shame that it was discontinued because it really is incredible for what it is.

Love this microphone. I got a USB interface (Focusrite Solo) for XLR mics, and have some cheap ones just for fun and, yes, because all the audiophiles and experts say you've got to roll that way. But every time I'm tempted to splurge on something like the AT2020, I remember how the ATR2500 sounds and, honestly, I'm happy with it as-is. Anyway, all of your reviews are fantastic. Sure the stand is bogus, but add a spider shock mount and a boom arm, and you're in business. A lot of this has to do with which mic fits your particular voice and speaking style, too -- there's no one-mic-fits-all.
