Charlotte, North Carolina is a city that has seen an explosion of growth over the years and there is a good reason for it. They offer a diverse job market and population, natural beauty, and some amazing suburbs. Much growth in the area is in Charlotte proper, but the suburbs have seen quite significant growth as well. Places like Davidson, Huntersville, and Cornelius to the north can be expensive, but they may be places to check out for affluent home buyers. Whereas, places like Matthews, NC or Fort Mill SC may be better if you are on a budget.

Charlotte is a very diverse city and you definitely find places that have old fashioned charm and a modern flair throughout the city. The city can have a tendency to be a bit economically segregated, which in turn does lead to pockets of diversity that may not be quite as widespread. Politically, Charlotte is a very liberal city and they are considered a democratic stronghold for the state. If you are conservative, don’t fret. Every surrounding North Carolinian county voted red in the 2020 election. So, no matter which party you may align yourself with you can live somewhere that shares your political beliefs.

Citizens' most significant concern here is probably got to be the high crime rate. The city is 51% higher than the national average in both property and violent crime. When you move to the area, there are definitely places with better crime numbers, so do your homework as much as you can to avoid high crime areas.

In the beginning of 2020, I moved from The Bronx to Winston-Salem for work. Now I live in the Clemmons area, outside of WS. Which is not a bad commute, driving towards Charlotte. But, now I'm trying to move into Charlotte, by next year. Hopefully I get the job over there. Raleigh was my 2nd choice but its not for me.

Hello! Can you compare NC vs SC? From my research, SC doesn't have the same weather problems as NC does with the hurricanes and tornadoes which is very interesting. Their job opportunities are not the greatest in SC, but for my field as a pharmacists, the outlook is good. I hear that SC is not as diverse as NC, but that it isn't a really big problem for those in the health care field. Thanks a bunch!

It is a new crime trend. When people come here from areas that have large amounts of crime, the crime rate seems to follow them. It's just true. Sorry. We were just a sleepy, quiet safe city.
